These Habesha Bet football betting rules explain how football bets may be settled for prematch and live events. Before placing a bet, check the market name, selected period, event status and any special conditions shown in your bet slip. Most football markets are settled on 90 minutes, but some markets include extra time or a penalty shootout. Where a specific market rule differs from this general guide, the conditions shown for that market apply.
Habesha Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data. For full contractual provisions, including settlement corrections and event-specific conditions, please review the Terms and Conditions.
Football betting rules at Habesha Bet
Football betting settlement rules depend on the market you choose. A match result market, for example, may use only the score at the end of normal time, while a “To Qualify” market may include extra time and a penalty shootout. The market title is important: words such as “90 Minutes,” “Including Extra Time,” “To Qualify,” “Winner of Tie” or “Outright Winner” describe how the result may be determined.
Check your selection before confirming a bet. This is especially important for totals, handicap, double chance, both teams to score, player markets, cards, corners and live football betting.
Standard settlement time: 90 minutes
For most football markets, settlement is based on 90 minutes of play plus referee-added stoppage time. Stoppage time, also called added time or injury time, is the time added at the end of each half by the referee.
Extra time is different. It is played after normal time in certain knockout matches and is not included unless the market name or specific market rules clearly say that it is included.
Unless stated otherwise, the following markets are generally settled using the result after 90 minutes plus stoppage time:
- Match Result or 1X2;
- Double Chance;
- Total Goals, including Over/Under markets;
- Handicap markets;
- Both Teams to Score.
For 90 minutes football betting, a score after extra time does not replace the score at the end of normal time.
When extra time counts
Extra time football betting applies only where the market expressly includes it. Look for wording such as “including extra time,” “to qualify,” “winner of tie,” “team to lift the trophy” or “outright winner.”
For example, a bet on Team A to qualify may be settled using the final outcome after normal time, extra time and, where relevant, a penalty shootout, if the market rules state this. A standard 1X2 bet on Team A to win is normally settled at the end of 90 minutes plus stoppage time, even if Team A later progresses.
Competition format can also matter. Always read the market description shown for the particular event rather than assuming that all knockout markets use the same settlement period.
How penalties are settled
A penalty awarded during normal time or extra time is an in-play football event. If it results in a goal, that goal may count in markets that include the relevant period. A penalty shootout after extra time is different from a penalty awarded during play.
- A penalty shootout normally does not affect 90-minute match result, totals, handicap or both teams to score markets.
- Shootout goals are usually not added to the match goal total for standard total-goals markets.
- A shootout result may count for “To Qualify,” trophy, tie winner or outright markets when the market rules include it.
For penalty shootout betting rules, rely on the named market and its individual conditions. If the selection does not clearly include a shootout, do not assume shootout kicks will count.
Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches
A cancelled football match bet, a postponed event or an abandoned match may be treated differently depending on the market and the applicable Habesha Bet rules. The event status, the time it was stopped and whether the outcome of a market had already been determined can all be relevant.
- Cancelled before kick-off: a bet may be declared void and the stake refunded, subject to the applicable rules.
- Postponed before kick-off: the bet may remain active if the match is played within the period set out in the relevant rules; otherwise, it may be void.
- Abandoned after kick-off: markets whose result was already unambiguously determined before the interruption may be settled. Other markets may be void, depending on the event and market rules.
- Match completed later: settlement may use the official result of the completed match where the applicable rules allow this.
- Official result changed: any amendment after the final whistle may be handled in line with Habesha Bet rules and the official data used for settlement.
- Incorrect event details: if a match, team, date, competition or market has been listed incorrectly, Habesha Bet may correct or void affected bets in accordance with its published rules.
A football betting void means that the affected selection is settled at void odds and the applicable stake is returned. A void result is not the same as a winning or losing bet. Check the specific market rules for the time limit that applies to postponed football match betting.
Live football betting settlement
Live football betting rules reflect the fast-changing nature of a match. Odds can change quickly after a goal, red card, penalty, VAR review, dangerous attack or other significant event. Markets may be suspended while new information is checked.
When you submit a live bet, it may be accepted, offered at updated odds, placed on hold for confirmation or rejected. A submitted bet is not final until it is confirmed in your bet slip. During a suspension, an unconfirmed request may not be accepted at the price first displayed.
For current in-play markets, visit Habesha Bet live. Please check the selection, odds and stake carefully before confirming any live football bet.
Odds changes and bet confirmation
Football odds change when new information affects the expected outcome of a match. The odds displayed on screen can change before the bet is accepted, particularly during live events. If the price changes, the system may show revised odds or reject the request.
The final odds are the odds shown on the accepted bet confirmation. Review the market, selection, stake and odds in your bet slip before you place the bet. Do not rely on a price until your bet has been successfully confirmed.
VAR, official data and result corrections
VAR decisions can lead to a goal being awarded or disallowed, a penalty being given, or a red card decision being changed. During a review, relevant markets may be suspended or temporarily unavailable. Settlement is based on confirmed event information and the official result used under the applicable rules.
If official data is corrected after a market has been settled, Habesha Bet may review the settlement in line with its published terms. This can apply to goals, cards, corners, player involvement and final results. For information about the operator’s regulatory framework, see License & Regulation.
Player, cards and corners markets
Special football markets may have conditions beyond the final score. Read the rules shown with the selection before betting.
- Player markets: availability, starting status and appearance requirements can affect settlement. A player bet may be void if the player does not take part, where the market rules provide for this.
- Goalscorer markets: own goals are normally not credited to a player as a goalscorer unless the market rules state otherwise.
- Cards markets: rules may specify whether only cards to players on the field count, or whether cards to substitutes, coaches or team officials are included.
- Corners markets: only corners officially awarded and taken may count. A corner that is not taken or is overturned may not be included.
For all player markets, cards and corners, check the specific market rules before placing a bet.
Examples of football bet settlement
- Scenario: A match is 1–1 after 90 minutes. Team A wins in extra time.
- Settlement: A standard 1X2 bet on Team A loses if the market was for 90 minutes only.
- Scenario: A match is 0–0 after normal time. Team B wins the penalty shootout.
- Settlement: A Total Goals Over 0.5 bet for 90 minutes loses because shootout kicks are not standard match goals.
- Scenario: A fixture is cancelled before it starts.
- Settlement: The bet may be void and the stake returned, unless the applicable event rules state otherwise.
- Scenario: A live bet is submitted while a VAR review is in progress.
- Settlement: The market may be suspended. The request may await confirmation, be accepted at updated odds or be rejected.
- Scenario: A bet is placed on a team “To Qualify.”
- Settlement: Extra time and penalties may count if the market description says they are included.
Responsible football betting
Football betting should be entertainment, not a way to earn money or solve financial problems. Consider setting limits before you bet, take a break when needed and use available self-exclusion or support options if gambling is becoming difficult to control.
